THE BEATLES; a programme for 'Another Beatles Christmas Show', bearing signatures of all four members of the band, George Harrison and Ringo Starr originally signed the front cover, these were later cut out and pasted to the inner page by the vendor, also sold with a ticket stub from the show at the Odeon Hammersmith, dated Thursday 7th Jan 1965, and two books 'The Beatles: The Unseen Archives' and 'The Beatles Anthology'.
Provenance:- Statement from the vendor:
From October 1963 to July 1965 I was employed as an au pair in the house of the Vice President of Colgate-Palmolive in UK, an American family. I was at that time 18 years old. We lived behind Royal Albert Hall in Kensington, London. I had a girlfriend, also a Danish au pair, who lived on the corner of Sloane St. and Pavillion St. At one time we realised that we had famous people living close to my friend’s place at Cadogan Place, as police were guarding the gate, and escorting people in and out. The famous people turned out to be the Beatles. We had already been to a Beatles Concert. The ticket price was £10. At that time my weekly salary had been increased to £4 per week from £2. We started joining mainly girls at the gate, trying to get close to the famous 4.
After managing to get the autographs from Paul McCartney, John Lennon and Ringo Starr, we realised that the Beatles were moving on after finishing their concerts and leaving the area and we still needed George Harrison's autograph. So after being at a cinema one night, we had to get a taxi home to get to the gate in time for their return. I managed to get his autograph to complete ‘the set’. Still being young I had no problem cutting out the 4 autographs to suit my own ideas.
With my age, and with no family wanting to hold on the ‘memories’ of my time in London, I hope a new home will be found.
