JULIA AND HERBERT WALLACE; an extensive archive relating to the famous locked door mystery, ‘The Man from The Pru’ murder, a well-known unsolved murder case which took place in Liverpool in 1931. When Julia Wallace of Wolverton Street was found brutally murdered in her home, her husband Herbert Wallace was originally convicted of the crime. Herbert was later acquitted on appeal - the first time in British legal history this had been allowed after re-examination of evidence. This comprehensive archive includes crime scene photographs, trial transcripts, depositions, Herbert Wallace’s police interviews and statements, pathology, and copies of contemporary newspaper cuttings. Also included is information on the ‘Other Man’, Richard Gordon Perry, who was the other main suspect in the murder. The papers were put together from original documents and interviews, as well as later discussions with relevant parties associated with the event. This case has gained a vast following all over the world with podcasts, websites and conspiracy theories dedicated to the crime and subsequent trial.
