Dugdale: Boards and spine with rubbing to all of the edges, Some edge chips to marbled paper and fraying to top of spine. Pencil notes to front end paper. Offsetting of plates, general browning, foxing to plates and some damp marks.
Pennants London: Later binding with only slight rubbing and wear, generally clean and bright. Later end papers. Title with tab repaired tear to binding edge. Offsetting of plates to text. Some minor foxing and browning.
Sportsman binding in poor condition. Inside with age browning and foxing, all page edges with wear. Some small tears to edges. No end papers. Lacking last page.
Botany book: Defective.

Auction: The Christopher Baron Book Collection (Macclesfield), 10th Oct, 2024
Christopher Baron (1941-2023) grew up in Birkdale, Lancashire and loved reading from a young age. After leaving school, he took a position with the National Westminster Bank. His love of books led him to buy and sell books, initially as a hobby, from the late 1960s. In 1985 due to job relocation from Natwest Bank, he moved to Hale, outside Altrincham in Greater Manchester. In 1991, he took early retirement and dedicated more time to dealing and collecting. He was a regular attendee at book fairs across the country, often joined at larger fairs by his wife Sheena (1953-2002). Christopher had an eclectic interest in many subjects, including Dylan Thomas, games and magic books and Terry Pratchett, to name but a few. He gained a great deal of joy from his books and from supporting customers to find what they were looking for. He continued to work right up until his death in 2023. His collection is a wonderful combination of stock for book fairs as well as personal treasures and favourites.
